Are social networking sites helping or hindering people's connections?

There are lots of pros about social networking sites but also cons. My friends and I have been using social networking sites for a few years now and some of them have been cyber-bullied. That’s right, "cyber-bullied". Cyber-bullying is a pretty big issue with social networking sites. Hurting someone via computer is easy, you just need to be friends with someone and all you need to do is type inppropriate things, send it and there you go, you just cyber-bullied someone! Most victims of cyber-bullying are teenagers. Teenagers aren’t mature enough yet, that’s why most social networking sites suggest that people under 18 shouldn’t be using it. Cyber-bullying has led to many teenagers suiciding because of the mental pain they get from all the stupid words people are saying online about them. Another thing that social networking sites affected us with is our social life. So many people now seem so active online, talking to everyone, etc... But when you see them in real life, they are a totally different person. Super shy and never contributes anything into the conversation.

Alright, let’s talk about the positive side of social networking sites now. Social networking sites such as FaceBook and Google + are really good to share information with, create events, etc...  Now by just posting pictures or information on your account, you can tell all your friends what you’re up to, what you’ve been doing or you can even organize a party at your house. All of this is awesome, but to me, the best thing about social networking sites is that you can find your friends so easily. By just typing your old friend’s name on the searching bar, you can already find out what your old friend has been up to, how he looks like now and can catch up with them!

Alright, that's all I have to say about social networking sites. Please be safe online and remember that it's how and what you use the social networking sites for that makes it a good/bad thing.
